Mark V 510 Connector Tubes

Post by JohnH »

I have just bought a 2002 version 510 with a shedload of accessories but unfortunately no connector tubes for joining the tables to give a larger work surface. Can anyone tell me the diameter of these tubes so I can try to find some tubing locally to do the job? Spares are tricky to find here in the UK. Thanks.

Grainger sells nice heavy wall stainless steel tubing that stays rust free forever.

This would make for some really nice extension tubes but it is rather expensive.

The wall thickness is significantly greater ( about .093 thicker). If they are straight to begin with, they should stay straight. My extension tubes all have a slight bend. That is to say "they do not roll flat".

I bought two of the stainless tubes from Grainger a few years ago. They work perfectly and they have stayed nice and straight with use.

OK. Dumb question. Yes, there are dumb questions!

For a temporary measure, could you turn some tubes from a good hard wood?

For a 'temporary measure', one could use 3/4" EMT, but what is available 'over there'?

Are these tubes straight? I would be tempted to try them if they are better than the stock shopsmith ones.
