Really not a/the right Forum for this so I ended up here. My Bro bought 80% machined .45 Cal ACP Pistol frames and AR 15 Rifles frames, legal, but need machining and Milling out of Aluminum, well the ER handled the task. All the other parts are legal to buy, clips, barrels, trigger, ect. My old Gun Smiting juices were a flowing to day!!
No Serial #s, legal, and the 2nd Amendment is at risk, just bury them on the Ranch. So when it is gone, your 2nd A rights, and we go through the Revolution, you better have some stacked away, because they will have your registered guns, confiscated. A fun day with the ER helping out the CA Bro!!! I felt like Skou with his Bro

If it is 'all legal', what is the 'incriminating' part????

By freak coincidence, this very evening I invested in an ER milling upgrade. Not that I plan on manufacturing any assault weapons, mind you. I already have ample firepower on hand, including a couple of classic high-powered deer rifles, left-overs from my youth in Tennessee. I really oughta sell them, except that a) my teenage son has an interest in them, and b) inertia trumps available time & energy.

But back to milling with an ER. A day or two ago I spotted a listing for a compound-slide milling table on a local online auction site, and today I went to the preview to check it out in person. The online auctioneer had identified it generically, but guessed wrong at the exact model. There was nothing on the unit or packaging to identify the model or part number, but the box had a shipping label, from Woodstock International to Amazon. Woodstock International sounded familiar. Google quickly reminded me that they distribute Shop Fox stuff. After a spending a bit of time with Google images, I made a positive ID. It was the table from a Shop Fox M1096 Micro Mill. Apparently the box with the table had gotten separated from the box containing the rest of the machine, and so some Amazon warehouse dumped it to an inventory liquidator.

Judging from the Amazon reviews, the headstock on that Micro Mill doesn't sound wonderful. But the table seemed tight & smooth. It's brand new, and it has dials graduated to 0.001". Just the ticket to complement the fine headstock of a 10ER. And it set me back a whopping $27.
So ERL, what did you use for milling cutters? I suspect that my Whiteside 1/4" solid-carbide spiral bits would make dandy end mills, and I already have the SS 1/4" router chuck. For that matter, I have a hunch that any of my carbide router bits would suffice for cutting aluminum and brass. Please advise!

Nice find!!! Wish I did!!! SS drill press vice, Bro sucked up chips on the shop vac, Aluminum can gum up stuff/cutters, a titch of WD40 on the cutter head at times. My 3/8s and 1/2" carbide router bits with 1/2" shafts, non Spiral, flat heads, 2 flutes, not my choice, not the right tool for the job, but Bro is leaving in the morning, they were in a set from the BBS, and they got eaten up for most of the work, My Bro is good and grateful1, ordered up 2 Frueds the same size from Amazon to replace them. I heard White Side are great for the price, when I need to replace my favorites, White Side from I heard will be my go to, in stead of Frued, I heard Rocklers and or WoodCrafts store brand good too, and guaranteed. Just dont need to replace any other then what my Bro did.
I mean my Bro is a good guy if you need health care advice, a Respirator Therapist, then a PA, dusty Physicians Assistant in many areas, Kidney care to Mental Health, Psychology!! He did not know to back off when I was showing him to drill out the Aluminum, nice chip/styrols,curls coming off the drill bit flutes, till they got clogged, and I backed off and I use my right thumb nail to clear them and continue on, he learned!!
I am a wood worker, but spent my college years working in the Tool And Die department for 4 years at Harley Davidson on the night shift, 11-7am then go to class, as an gofer/assistant, with real machinist/Tool and Die Makers, learned a lot of tricks. Just at 64 I wish I could remember them all!!!!

What is an assault weapon? Aren't all weapons designed and built to assault something? Every projectile launching device that was ever invented to neutralize someone or something can be considered to be an assault weapon. Sling shots, bows and arrows, firearms were all invented to assault something.
Beware of laws that are written with such loose language that the law could be applied to almost everything and anything.
Another example is "hate speech". That concept has already been used, particularly by the press, to condemn any speech that is in opposition to any political movement that the press prefers. Talk against a muslim, whether correct or not and you get severely criticized by almost every news agency on the planet. Assault weapon legislation is an assault on the 2nd amendment and hate speech laws are an assault on the 1st amendment. All you have to do is look at the manner in which these types of laws are applied.

Whiteside router bits are outstanding and made in North Carolina. That is all I buy. The place to get them is Woodworkersworld.net. The man's name is Alan Campbell. The only thing he sells is Whiteside router bits and as far as I can tell he stocks the entire line. Whenever I order bits I check around for prices and he is always the cheapest and first class mail shipping is free. He also usually ships the same day as long as you don't order too late. He is in Pennsylvania.

Since my Bro is real fussy, Machining Aluminum is not my expertise, and after watching the videos, I chose not to use a straight cut carbide router bit for lack of chip removal on the work surface. I am sure they would work, but!!!
