ER Depth Indicator

On my ER semi restoration, I have no problem with the quill return spring, works great, BUT the A2283 part #, Depth Indicator will not turn, the C ring in front of it is rusty and soaking as I write, the exposed part of the shaft was rusty and cleaned that up, but that has nothing to do with internal rust.
Looking for your expertise on this.
Thanks in the future ;)

I think you already know the clip has to come off and the 'dial' also to get to the part of the shaft not yet derusted.

Do NOT remove much material where the 'dial' slips on the shaft.

This 'feature needs a more positive means of holding a 'setting'.

JPG, I got the indicator dial off, rusty shaft, touched it up a bit tonight, busy day, CL shopping, ect, slid the dial on, still a bit tight, something for tomorrow to fine tune.
Thanks :)

Since it serves as an indicator of depth, it needs to be a bit tight so it rotates with the shaft, but loose enough to set manually.

It is handled, surfing and puttzing in the shop, perfect fit, needs a new C ring, hardware store tomorrow, the old one would be ok, but rusty, and this one is a Best of Show ;)
