Fixed Beltsander

While in the process of doing some much needed maintenance on my belt sander, a cam fell out in pieces. I had experienced some sever tracking issues the last time I used it. The cam is not available as a separate part so I had to buy the whole idler drum assembly ($127+ with shipping). Went online an viewed the "Hands On" video on belt sander maintenance, which was a tremendous help. As usual, the part was back ordered, but when it arrived, I was able to get the belt sander back up and running in about a half hour. I missed having the belt sander; I use on almost every project.
In the end, although I thought having to buy the whole assembly was excessive, having to pay $127 is a whole lot better than having to buy a new belt sander ($500+). This is the third maintenance/repair I have done recently (30+ year-old SS), and I continue to be impressed with the support SS has available for its 30 year old product. Try getting your 30-year-old anything else repaired and see how far you get, that is if your 30 year old product is still running. Thanks SS.
