BELT SANDER ADJUSTMENT

I have two belt sanders. The older one will tip flat or vertical with no problem. The other one is newer but I can not get it to change positions with out removing the one bolt and placing it into another hole. Is this new or what is my problem. I don't see any interference.

The older one 'missing' the bolt?
The bolt is for making a position between horizontal and vertical rigid.
The pivot trunion lock 'tension' can be adjusted. Use the bolt if lock is adjusted loose.

No the bolt is present in both sanders. The newer one will not move far with the bolt in.

'THE BOLT' is 34,35,36 with 20,21,22?
The second bolt I was referring to is 76,77,77,78.
You should not have to relocate 'THE BOLT'.
Loosen perhaps, but not move.

yes loosen the one and 75-78 must be removed to allow it to pivot on this one??

There are two holes in the casting for 76-78.
True in order to move from horizontal to vertical, the bolt must be moved. That is because the slide(25)(with the slot for both bolts) is not long enough.
So the direct answer to your ? is yes it must be relocated to move
completely between vertical and horizontal. However the 76-78 bolt is not necessary for operation at those limits, but is intended to be used at positions in between.
The manual recommends a wing nut be used to make that easier.
To move no. To 'go all the way' yes.

I believe you the bold has to be moved. It just puzzled me why I did't have to on my older one. Still puzzled but will put a wing nut on it so I can transform faster.
