Picked up a barely used Sept. 2004 50th anniversary edition 520 at an auction recently with the intention of flipping it to make a couple bucks to buy a few Thompson bowl & spindle gouges. Got it home and took the covers off and blew out the 7 or 8 specks of dust, oiled it and fired it up and the dang thing purred like a kitten. Let it sit for a few days trying to decide what to do with it because it was in such pristine condition. Didn't have room for both this 520 and my other 510 so I took another couple of days deciding what to do. Finally decided to keep both and shorten up the 510. Actually, the hardest part was deciding to make the 510 a shorty or shop deputy style. Now all I need to do is get rid of the 510 table and fence system and I'll be a happy camper.

I think you made a wise decision. The 510 modification is reversible. For support only, the 510 aux table works with the 520. You may find the floating tables handy as well.
