This is what I am working on. I am learning to turn and these I have made with a skew chisel. I hope to have more in a few days. I started these a couple months ago, and life got in the way.

Steve, the old swampgator

I am making progress on a shadow box I highly suspect was made in Japan or Korea during some war in which our country was involved. It is made of really cheap wood such as military supplies would be crated and packaged. I also suspect that this wood was used from those crating materials to give someone a way to make some extra income. This is not finished, but in the last couple of weeks, I have a couple of photos that will give you some sense of the direction I am headed. I need to put expoxy glue around the corners of the box. The rest of the parts were glued with Titebond III. Now waiting on Lowe's to get the paint I desire. At a later date, I will post the final pic.

I forgot to tell that this shadow box came from someone who served in Korea and when I got it, the bamboo rods were gone. So, had to harvest bamboo, let it dry, then put dowels down inside the bamboo and glued it to the box. A couple of the X's broke and I had to sand and glue them together. They are not the same size. Even after sanding to what I thought was a perfect dry fit, a couple of them are not, but I will make it look good.

For my Pastor on Sunday. We're having a Pastor appreciation day. First "real" scroll saw project. I could nit pick it to death. LOL I think it came out OK though.

Not only the scroll sawing, but your wood burning is beautiful. Congratulations on a super nice piece!

Thanks. Are you talking about the hands?(wood burning?). Those are veining cuts. No woodburning.

Very nice, a Pro could not have it look better.

And some fun ones. The kids' derby cars are ready to roll for the grand prix tomorrow. Yes, they did help. My son actually did his cuts free hand on the bandsaw then some sanding.

Nice!!! I would like to see a White Toyota Tundra with a 50 cal in the back with some Arabic writing on the doors!!!! I wonder how that would go over???

Veining cuts! Wow! - even nicer work than burning. You must have a much better veiner tool than I do. Or, most probably, just much better technique.
