Lathe duplicator parts

Morning, new to the forum & pretty new to Shopsmith machines. Looked for a hello/introduction section but couldn't see one.

I have recently picked up an old 510 which had most of the Lathe duplicator with it, the one part that seems to be missing is the extrusion at the back that other parts slide on to, the exploded view diagram lists it as Item: 517938 (Reference # 13) Lathe Duplicator Double Slot Extrus.

I was wondering if anyone had any more detail on this part or had used a different extrusion in it's place. Being in the UK it is difficult to get hold of spares, shipping makes parts really expensive unfortunately.

Hi and welcome!

As you have discovered, the new version of the lathe duplicator uses a special aluminum extrusion and that is the part listed in the diagram parts list.

But the old version of the lathe duplicator (and it is quite possible that's what you've got given it came with a 510) uses ordinary Uni-Strut.

Uni-Strut can be sourced at most hardware stores in the US and I presume the same goes for the UK.

Note, the picture on the Shopsmith site still shows the Uni-Strut version.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, looking at that picture the other parts I can see all look to be the same as the parts I have so will find a company over here that supply uni-strut.
Thanks once again for the help.
