Sealing Caulking Tubes

Just thought I'd share this.
I've used caulk and adhesive for years in tubes. I've never figured out a way to seal a partially used tube for use down the road. I've tried large and small nails and a variety of screws and caps. All without any success. Every time I go to the shelf for a caulking job the tube is dried shut. Recently I tried a new product and it seems to work better than anything else I've tried.
This little tool is called Seal-A-Tube, which I got at Menards (a mid-west large box store). The handle makes it easy to remove. It's cheap and comes in two sizes for thin or heavy beads.

It looks like an off shot from a wire nut. I keep wire nuts in my tool box just for that purpose.. I'll keep an eye out for one of these. I'd run right to Menards to get one but we don't have that blessing here in Tucson..

A friend of mine little rubber finger thingies, like you use to count money, sub papers as a paper boy,ect that with a screw first then slip this over. I think a Rockler product if they still have them.
Any caulk will dry out in time, water based or silicone, the problem is getting the fatter dry piece out of the smaller tapered hole at the end of the nozzle piece.

I also use them as caps on the air connectors for my air tools. They prevent any dust from getting into the tool and makes it easy to remove when needed.
