First Proof of Concept:

Needed to verify that the flex hose would allow the separation between carriage and headstock without disconnecting and then return to the "in service mode". This kludge arrangement convinces me that this can be done "successfully".
POST SCRIPT:

This sorta looks good but like so many efforts to "improve" this one interferes with those tools I use for Main Table stabilization and precise table tilt. The hose can not go down through the Way Tubes. It must be relocated so that it goes through the Bench Tubes only.

Far more elegant solution than my tubs.
And, you table extension is super, too.

With a 'new' bottom mount(1 1/4" railing joint) and where did those ball ends come from?

I've got a non shopsmith hose that slides in the port and stays put so my solution has been to just pull it out and do what needs doing then plug it back in. That has it flaws like when I forget to reattach and start cutting only to see sawdust erupting all over the place.

The hose does get in the way so I might look at some of the options a flexible hose has to offer. Worth a few minutes of my time to see if I like it better.

This is NOT my final rendition but is it what I am going to work with for awhile.
The flexible hose does not clear the table leg but the interference is slight enough that I can move the headstock left without disconnecting the hose.

I replaced the spring clamp with a hose clamp so that the hose will not pull off of the lower saw guard. I may also keep the dust collector hose outside of the Bench Tubes but even if I do that I am going to permanently anchor that end of the hose at the far right end of the tubes as shown here. I have it cable tied there now.

The flex hose that is being used here is actually two pieces taped together on a thru splice connector.

As for a new shoe rack - the one you see here I could do without but my vote was rejected. There are spaces available for those shoes that are inh the rack. Those are not mine FWIW. Oops. The tennis shoe is mine. I must have had my slippers on when I took those pictures. Slippers, BTW, are for in the house only. This system is suppose to prevent me from tracking in saw dust.

I believe that JPG is referring to the joint attached to the bottom end of the rear table leg. This is where the support for the out feed table is attached. This particular hardware is actually designed for use on hand rails.

To answer the question about where the ball ends come from - they are parts from two old swivel type shower heads.
