As mtobey said, thank you for the thoughts and prayers and call to action to get things accomplished in the area. And I would have to say that I have never really realized that there were groups/organizations around beyond the ones normally heard about in national news.

While my experience of flooding in Iowa has been pretty limited (my time on this earth has now reached a quarter of a century, all of which has been spent in Iowa), I have been present for the past 2 record breaking flooding in 93 and now 08. Luckily for both events I've been fortunate to be outside of the flooded areas.

I listen to NPR when I'm driving to and from work, and they had a person on from the Red Cross. They made the comment that they will have to pick up a few loans to continue to provide aid. They said this was needed since there hasn't been a large scale disaster similar to this in a while that people tend to not donate as much/as often.
