I don't know how this log cabin was built but my in laws had one. In SC and I imagine Tenn they have bore bees. They will drill into the logs which then opens them to attack from other insects and rot. My FIL had to spray the house twice each year to prevent problems. To me that I is a lot of maintence. He also had to treat the wood will exterior oil/stain every so often.

Benefit of log cabin is they have a lot of mass. Once they are warm they seem to retain heat. Likewise when cool they seem to take awhile to heat up. My in laws living in SC were able to use the AC on a very limited basis.

Before buying any log home find out how it was constructed and that it was properly flashed. Many log builders seem to ignore flashing.

we do have the boring bees here also. as to log homes they are high maintenance as stated. two things about johnson county, there are NO building codes or permits except electric and septic and NO zoning which i like but it can be a double edged sword.the other thing is just how much of the property is reasonably flat?

ERL, you will fit in just great, if this song gets your toes a tappin', and maybe even sends a little shiver down yore spine.

The National Anthem of Tennessee. East Tennessee, in particular. :D

Flat ground? Bah! Humbug! If that's what you want, move to Central Ohio! :D

And if the YouTube version doesn't do it for you, see if this iTunes link works. From back when the Osbourne Bros. could hit the high notes with ease.

A snappy, toe tapping song!! I go all over, good Opera, Chicago Blues, Symphonic ect.
Just need a flat, sunny area about 60x60ft for the garden.
