It's been a while since I posted here, but now that I have moved my Shopsmith from the garage to a shed where I could work with it, just curious if there is anybody in the Hernando county area of Florida that could help me become more familiar with my machine. I received it from my brother just before he passed in 2015 and I have a bunch of stuff with it that I am unsure about whether I need to keep or if it is just junk.

Hi and welcome back to posting. If you can, please post a few pics so we can see what you have and what condition it is in. The best way to familiarize yourself with the tool is to go through the motions of changing to the different modes, drill press to table saw to lathe to get used to the changeovers. There is a lot of new terminology to learn so look at the pics in the owner's manual to get accustomed the your new language!! The 520 is definitely NOT junk. Everything for the machine is available either on line or from Shopsmith (also known as the "mother ship"). Rusted parts can be easily cleaned for use. A look at the SS website will give an understanding of what came with the machine and what are extra parts. The extra parts may be accessory parts that will be useful at some time. Stop back here and ask questions. The knowledge base on this site is very impressive so use it.to your advantage. Remember; the smaller your workspace the more the need for a Shopsmith.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Do you have the Shopsmith lesson plan book. It has setups for almost all the functions that a Shopsmith can do. I have a copy of these lesson plans that I can give you if you could stop by my shop. I am in Plant City, Fl of I-4 exit 17. Thanks.
