For Everyone Who Travels the Interstate

Post by db5 »

If you need to get off for food, fuel, etc. and there is more than one exit never take the first one. Here's why. If you get back on going the wrong direction you'll only drive a mile or two before you can turn around.

I got off in Gallup NM and getting back on the sign said "I-40 This Lane Only" or something to that effect. That was the far right lane. That put me back on heading west. To go east I should have been one lane over

Several years back a friend of mine and his wife were driving to Memphis. He worked a second shift job and drove from Greer to Nashville that night where he turned the driving over to his wife and lay down in the back seat to get some sleep. She woke him up when she got back to Asheville. :D :D

No typo she got back on the interstate east bound and drove 4 hours in the wrong direction while he slept. :o It only added 8 hours driving time to their trip to Graceland.

Michael if thee is indeed considering a move to ET you must become aware that Nashville and Ashville are two 'different' destinations residing near/upon I 40. Must pay very close attention when reading road signs! :D

Especially if traveling south on I 75 and approaching I 640. Second exit to Ashville, First exit to Nashville. Both on the same sign!!!

My problem with interstate highways and signs are related to my sense of direction. Over the years I have developed a keen sense of direction (N,S,E,W). I really bothers me every time a sign directs me to go South in order to go North.

That is sorta like going to CA. from Tucson, AZ. You head out from my house going West to get to Phoenix which is North of me.
