Clamp Rack

A "quick and dirty" project for today, a clamp rack made from scrap 2x4, 1x4 and 1/2" EMT.
One small step toward a better organized shop.

I will live with it for a while but I think I might re-make it longer and with a couple of more bars, the extra contact points on the longer clamps make them less likely to fall off if bumped.

Neat idea Ron! I like simple...
If you do decide to make the rack longer(wider) and add extra bars, Have you considered using 1" angle iron. You can cut a straight(horizontal) line into the front face of the 2x4's so the angle iron will sit flat against the front of the 2x4's. It would be like running "flat" bar across the face of the 2x4's but with the extra rigidity you get with angle iron. With the angle irons narrow edge facing up, your clamps wouldn't have the tendacy to slide off as with the larger(round) smooth radius of the pipe.
Just some food for thought.

I got the idea from this video that I saw sometime ago.
I liked the simplicity of using tubing for the bars, easy to cut with a pipe cutter, easy to fit to the uprights, 3/4" holes are a good fit for 1/2" emt, and as there are no slots specific to a particular style of clamp it is very compact and flexible. It was a very quick and easy build and it cost me nothing.
I made it as wide as I could for that location, I think longer (vertically) would be a bit better but it is in a corner and behind my router table so not likely to get bumped.
For me the angle iron would be harder to cut to length, and I don't have any in stock,
but I am sure it would work fine.
