In screw-up mode that is. Such a simple job but I made a multitude of stupid mistakes on this one. I blame them on starting and stopping and other distractions. Oh well tomorrow starts a new week that I hope goes a little better.

Oh I fixed them. It just took way to long due to miss cut parts, assembled mistakes and 2 doors not the correct size. Just a long week and I felt the need to beat myself up over it.


I won't knowingly let a mistake go out of my shop.

That's probably a good diagnosis. I once read a book on software engineering in which they had studied factors affecting programmer productivity. On of the more interesting findings was that once you distract a programmer, it takes him about 15 minutes to get back "in the zone" (read "trance-like state") needed for maximum concentration. IMHO, working with woodworking processes, geometry, and dimensions is not all that different from computer programming.

Add advanced age to the mix and that 15 minutes becomes 45.


Most folks do not realize it often requires keeping track of several things at once. Like a certain multi-purpose machine, there are few details that are isolated from all the others.
