Critical Mass... Box Question

I was busy this year restoring & upgrading Mark Vs. I’ve been very fortunate to have spent a lot of time with Bill Mayo over the years. He taught me a lot of things not published in any book like how to modify some motors with a forward/reverse DPDT switch. He is the man. I understand now the reason he doesn’t keep his Mark Vs or SPTs assembled- they take too much space.

Converted two Mark Vs into Mark 7s. Completely renovated a Greenie and rebuilt three other Mark Vs- all with new belts, upgraded bearings and other thing else needed. Every one of them are purring. The only problem is I’ve run out of space in my garage shop. I have an overhead router table, scroll saw, power station, dust collector, and... well the list is smaller of the things I don’t have than what I have.

Also have 6 Model 10E/ERs with a number of speed increasers. Don’t have them on benches, but lined up against the wall- so no problem there. Can’t really do that with a Mark V.

Need to break down at least 4 of the Mark Vs. I vaguely remember my father getting a his 510 in the 80s. I believe it was in one box. I’m thinking if can regain some space if I break the Shopsmiths down. I’ll be able to move & start scaling down what I have & be able to move around the garage/shop. One good thing is I replaced all the casters, so they glide on the garage/shop floor. :)

Does anyone know the size of a box that might hold a complete Mark V? Are the way & bench tubes boxed separately? Thanks in advance for any info.

There is a video somewhere online that shows Mike and his wife unpacking a Mark V. If I remember correctly, one box contained it all. I'll look for it later today. Coffee time now.

Thanks Dusty. Is this the one?

Looks a number of Mark Vs could then be stacked in the same footprint as one. I really should start scaling down, but...

I am sure Doug Reid will be delighted to know that was 'Mike's wife Susan'.
