Using a hospital bed motor to raise the headstock in drill press mode.

Interesting approach to a headstock lift. Hard to tell what he did at first because of the camera angle that has is lifting device completely hiding a way tube, as if had replaced the way tube or something. His lift point is just below the way tubes on the headstock if it's in horizontal mode, That's about where I found it when I tried balancing a headstock on the back end. His device simply sits on the carriage and has to no positive connection to the headstock either. I have the elevation mechanism from a treadmill, it's a simple AC motor driven device, the screw is pretty short but maybe I can find a longer replacement. Have to take a closer look, it has Acme threading I think.

Whether or not I try something like this I always find this kind of video interesting.

I find them interesting too. :)
I have a 10ER dedicated drill press, and once I got the headstock up to the desired height, I haven't moved it since, choosing to adjust the table height instead. And to raise it up, I put a piece of wood on the table and advance the quill against it to lift the headstock, easy peasy.
