I have a SS Mark V 510 that I use for the usual, table saw, lathe, router table etc. So I use the I-Box on my SS Mark VII but it makes such a mess with no lower blade guard the only option was to push it outside on the driveway. Being that is now winter that's no good, so I decided to make a lower blade guard of sorts. I thought someone else may have the same problem so take a look.

Very impressive! I had been thinking of that for the 10ER's made out of wood. Nice design. How does it work?

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Too cold to open the door. So cramped with junk. will try today I hope.

I made this specifically for the Freud box joint blades but in hindsight probably should have made it to accommodate a 10" blade. However I will probably never use the VII for a table saw. As far as I know the VII never had a lower blade guard available as an accessory.

Update: I made a couple of boxes this morning and found out the new lower guard catches probably 3/4 of the chips and dust but you still need a respirator in close quarters. Oh well!!

Also a "TIP" to all you I-Box users. in the process of making a couple of boxes I just could not get the joints to come out right. First too loose, then too tight then way too loose, then too tight again, slept on it and tried again, just could not get a decent fit. Started from scratch and still bad fits. Slept on it again.

Solution: In the process of pushing the SS around in my shop i had inadvertently bumped the table from "Zero". I will assure you when using the I-Box the blades must be "Dead-on" 90 degrees to the table. A degree or two will play havoc with the finger joints. One more lesson learned.

I'm not sure of OEM lower guards but I'm using one of the old 500 lower guards. It does work but they aren't good dust collectors. I use it to give a little protection under the table.
Now I have made a plywood box that I use with the sanding disc. It works fairly well as I can set the table down on the top of the box. As there is no problem with exposing the full half of the disc.
