Thanks to Ed (Reible), my wife has been cracking the whip! Eleven down, 21 to go by February 4th! This is a great way to use up scraps. The two that look like spectra-ply are not. I was playing with the Shopsmith bandsaw cutting up some less that stellar blanks into strips (veneer)just for practice. They came out good enough to glue up into fresh blanks! I used up some stoppers I bought years ago from Penn State, have switched to Ruth Niles stoppers for the bulk of them.

Can somebody PLEASE tell me why everytime I post a photo from this computer they are never oriented properly? Now, when I view this same post on my phone, it's fine! I must be getting old!

Maybe it is because it says 'Apple'on it.

Digital photo files contain "metadata" (data about data). One of the metadata fields tells the display software how to rotate the image. Unfortunately, the display software may rotate it per the metadata field, or it may simply ignore that field.

The bulletproof fix is to use real image-processing software to write the final image file that you post -- it will reorient the image such that no rotation by the display software is needed. JPG swears by irfanview. I use a program that was bundled with a Canon DLSR.

I have ran into this also.
The way I understand it,
To speed internal processing Apple products store all photos as if they were taken in landscape mode, and then stores the camera orientation in the meta-data. Most software that display photos look at the meta-data and make the appropriate adjustment.

The programers at PHPBB (our board software) however, think that it is not their responsibility to reorient photos to display properly, even though it has been brought to their attention that this is a problem. And as it is free open-source software there isn't a lot of recourse.

The way I work around it is to always take photos with the phone horizontal (landscape mode) so that the orientation of the photo is the same whether the software looks at the meta-data or not. If I don't want the picture to be wider than it is tall I choose Square instead of Photo when I take the picture.

Looking good! And you are well on your way. I do like your stripped looking ones, if I get back to making some more I may have to look into trying that.

Been too cold these last couple of days, shop is down to 36 degrees and I haven't felt like tuning on the heater to warm it up. Should be over this cold snap tomorrow, I haven't even got a walk in the last couple of days..... have to fix that with a couple of long ones this week.
