GREENIE

Post by woodmeister »

I recently purchased a greenie 1962 vintage according to the numbers. The carriage was locked on it but guy said I moved it last week. I got it home and tried to move it and it cracked apart on the ways. Not all bad luck the guy sent the motor to mother ship last November and had the head stock gone through costing him $650.00 including shipping so it is running sweet. The tubes are fine and the casters are too. Wondering if any shop smith Mark V head stock would fit on the frame or should I sell greenie head stock separately?
Clarification do all the head stocks fit on all way tubes?
Thanks,
Tom

Only the model 10 has different way tube centers. - so yes

I question a greenie is from 1962.

Any Mark 5 or Mark V 500 carriage will work.

Did that $650 include poly-v conversion and 1 1/8 hp motor and maybe a new 2 bearing quill?

Your correct it was built November 1955. #314696
Repair/tune up done November 8, 2016

518824 motor 1 1/8 hp
515556 control sheave with hardware
522741 idler shaft assembly
501320 short key for mark v motor
501297 2 drive sleeve bearings
502962 ball bearing
555756 headstock tune up special
515616 eccentric bushing
507032 gilmer belt
504221 quadrant assembly

Total 647.26

No mention of twin quill. Reckon it will run on any mark v. Must be in good condition or they would have fixed if needing repair I am thinking.
