Hi,

I haven't been using my Shopsmith 10 ER for almost 5 years. Time to make room for something else in my small shop. I don't see any or sale on craigslist or ebay. Can someone tell me what an honest price is for a nice (no rust) 50's model? I have all the attachments, drill chuck, disk drum, carbide tipped saw blades, large disk sander, lath parts and others. It also has a wood base with legs with casters.

Got me feet wet with woodworking using it but now have stand-alone tools.

I dont know what your market is for them in the Boston area. Around me one it that shape would be about $150-225.

I've purchased two of them and paid less then $100 each and even had one delivered to my door step..... but again it depends on your local area. With prices so low are you sure you don't want to keep it as a drill press or lathe things it does well or maybe a sanding station???

Try looking on craigslist in the DC area, Annapolis, Baltimore and other areas around you to see what others have them listed for. Look under both Shopsmith and Shop Smith as sometimes they are only listed on one of the spellings. I have seen them listed for well under $100 up to over $1000.

This one appears to be in excellent condition. I would think it should draw top dollar (well over $100-$150).

To the original poster, I'm pretty dang sure you don't have
a drill-press this good. Period! And, if you have a
horizontal drill-press, you've spent thousands.

No, the Model 10 isn't the best lathe made, but it IS
the best ShopSmith lathe. Bar none.

Sage advice from all. It is going to vary regionally. I got one in Denver area with no rust at all in that price range from the fellow who bought it new. It was in great shape, like yours appears.

Many ads on Craigslist or eBay will list them at an "I'm going to make some serious money price" only to find it will not sell.

Keep doing homework research for those that sell within a 2 hour radius of where you are and you should establish a fair idea of what it's worth.

When you list it, take lots of photos of the accessories as well. I didn't recall seeing a jigsaw, but if you have one, make it prominent. Look at the other ads and you will see some that are appealing to viewers, and others not so much. Remember the ones you like that drew your interest and take note to replicate the best in your ads.

VintageMachinery.org has a marketplace where you can sell unlike here, and since its audience is vintage by definition, you may want to list it there too.

I agree with what everyone has said. I think the area makes a difference. I have 5 10ER's here bought in the Salt Lake City area within an hour of my location. 4 of the 5 came with speed changers. 3 of them were $125 or less. The other two I bought from the same estate, both had speed changers and one of them had a 3/4HP motor. I paid $175 for both of them together. Speed changers alone on eBay fetch around $150.

None of mine are in as nice a shape as yours so that is a plus for your price. However they are easy to restore.

I agree, prices can be all over the wall. Nephew payed $10 for one that was a free be, just to hold it till he got back with his trailer.I had he last one delivered from northern IL on there way here to Milwaukee for weekend visit with a SC that his dad bought new, I think I payed 200$ give or take $25, that was this summer and posted it here as a light rehab.

Before you sell that lovely machine for a pittance, consider using it as a wall-mount drill press. Very cool, and few modern ones can match it on performance and features. A member here posted the photo below a few years back, and I have since bought a second one for this purpose. $140 including speed changer, BTW, but not as nice as yours. Very little space required.
