Today in the shop (table inserts the special functions)

I didn't put all the information in that thread because this goes beyond the scope of that thread. There I showed that a trim router can be mounted to the table saw insert and allow it to work as a router table even in drill press mode.
When building this I took the time to get the alignment such that it would have some other special functions when combined with the headstock. Today I'll show you how that works.
By aligning the router to the headstock when building the table insert it stands to reason that I could then align the two once built. So the two would look like this:
An alignment pin in each one can be used to match up to each other. If you were to mess with the alignment of the table at some point it is very likely that you would need to make another table insert to reestablish the alignment.
So why do you want to do this?
How about because then you can have a pin router with the pin on the top or on the bottom. At this point all I have is 1/4" pins but with some brass stock one could turn the 1/4" stock to say 3/16" or 1/8"........ 1/16"???
So it might look like this:

With the pin located on the bottom then you can use it for pin located drill as well.
So this should give you some things to think about.
