Being the miser that I am, tried to save a buck today. The one on the right cost me $59.00. The one on the left cost me $ 1.50 (Magnets). Wood is Walnut, emery cloth is 80 grit.

Very nice. I've never had the talent to do dovetails by hand cutting them. I wimp out and use my router with a dovetail jig that controls the position for me.

I want to learn how to do them by hand, but will have to buy a proper saw first. After I learn how, then I can decide if I want to do it that way or not.

My hunch is that decision will depend on the particular project.
