Hi All -

Those few of you who have followed my meager posts may remember that I have been on these boards mainly to stuff my brain with enough information to make an educated decision about buying a used ShopSmith. I am happy to report that I am no longer ShopSmith deprived, in fact, I am quite the opposite.

I encountered an opportunity to buy an entire ShopSmith workshop from a husband and wife team that, due to increasing physical limitations, were being forced to give up the hobby. I am now the proud owner of the following:

1989 Mark V 510/520 upgrade with all standard 520 accessories
Bandsaw
Scrollsaw on Power Stand
Belt Sander on Power Stand
Jointer x2 (one old style, one new style - Never Used)
12" Pro Planer on Power Stand
Strip Sander
Power Station (Currently has one of the Jointers mounted on it)
Dust Collecter
Joint Matic (Never Used)
Routing Station (Self Standing with Overarm Pin Router plus under-table router mount - Used very little)
Mill-Route (Router Pantograph - Never Used) This thing is MASSIVE!
Steel Accessories Stand (for storing the big accessories when not installed on Mark V)

PLUS: Biscuit Joiner, Bandsaw Circle Cutter (Never Used), Speed Increaser, Bowl turning chisel kit, Pen turning chisel kit, Dust Covers for EVERYTHING, Casters on everything but the Pantograph and the Routing System, Accessory shelf for under Mark V, random extra tables to which I haven't attibuted a machine (yet), Molder head with a bunch of knives, Dado Blades, Drum Sanders, Double-Bar Clamps, A ton of full-sized furniture and craft patterns, books, all operating manuals, Boxes and boxes of drill bits, router bits, saw blades of every shape and size, pen turning kits, figured wood for pens, and a ton more boxes with supplies, replacement parts and other stuff I haven't even had the chance to go through and identify yet. A great deal of this stuff has never even been opened.

All the equipment has been professionally maintained from the get-go by a ShopSmith trained repair person. It is all in impeccable condition and I really feel blessed to have found these folks. I feel terrible that they are having to give up a mutual hobby which brought them so much joy, but I've promised to utilize everything to the hilt and enjoy it a least as much as both of them did.

It sounds like you have a real nice shop. Now all you need are the corners filled with sawdust.

OMG.....I think its wonderful and I'm so happy for you. I'm just so envious that I'm going to sit down and cry.

Okay now drop the other shoe and tell us got it all for $100 of which they refunded $50 because the liked you. THEN you will hear sour grapes!:D

Well... Nope. We got a deal, but not THAT great a deal! Way to trash my high... Just kidding. They did like me, though.

I'm hesitant to post my price, but what the hell. $3,500.00 plus a death-defying trip to Dayton. Actually, the drive TO Dayton was quite pleasurable. It was the drive FROM Dayton, in a BLINDING, Noah's ark style thunderstorm, hauling a 12' trailer, through the mountains that was death-defying. Thankfully, we defied it, so I can still live to learn how to use all this stuff.

I've got a LOT of reading to do, friends... Thanks to those of you who are happy for me. I love the jealousy stuff too, though... LOL

Yes we are envious of you and the deal you were able to get but more importantly, we wish you well and hope that you learn how to use it all. As been said, begin to use the tools and show us what you are doing and utilize the forum to obtain the answers to your questions. Best of luck with your new toys and enjoy them.

I would say that was a deal!!! Good for you!!!!! Glad you made the trip home safely. Now let us see some projects.
