I was wondering if T9 is considered a replacemnt for spray silicon in regards to maintenance on the headstock? i.e does T9 attract sawdust? If it is a replacment do you need to get in there to wipe off the excess?

Take some T-9 Bioshield and spray it on a piece of wood, let it dry and then throw some sawdust on the wood and shake off the excess. I think you will answer your own question.

Bioshield to my understanding was a product made to protect Aerospace assemblies during shipment. It protects against rust, outside contaminants, and to some degree abrasion. It leaves behind a slightly sticky residue but by it's very nature also serves as a lubricant.

In my opinion products that carry known lubricants serve better. I'm a great fan of Graphite, molybdenum disulfide and mineral lubes. You can get great lubricants made from Graphite that have carriers that evporates almost immediately. Since graphite is a super lubricant and does not attract or hold outside substances it works perfectly. Also there is molybdenum disulfide that is used extensively in the precision machine and gunsmithing world. Gunsmiths use the lube because it doesn't attract any foreign substances, and is a fantastic lubricant. Also there are mineral oils and greases that are excellent lubricants that do not attract dust or dirt.
