I acquired 2 Shopsmith Greenies last Fall. I have rebuilt all the accessories that came with them, except the 4 inch Magna Model 620 Jointer.
The problem I am having ,is I can not figure out how the slide on the on the miter gauge tightens. The handle assembly slides into the gauge, but there is no way of tightening it. Is the Gauge supposed to be Threaded, or is something missing? It doesn't look stripped.

Welcome to the forums!
If you could take a picture and post it of what you have it might be easier for us to understand your problem.

It cannot exceed 2050 x 1180 or 2mb. Any thing larger(all three limits must not be exceeded) will not post.

the handle has a double purpose. It engages different nuts by moving in or out.

Where is this double purpose handle on a miter gauge?

Do you see the miter gauge that you have in the images shown in this link.
If so, which one (part number). What you describe to be your problem does not fit my vision of the miter gauge.

Howdy,Howdy
I think that there is some confusion amongst the ranks as to what you are referring to. The miter bar is the one that slides in the slot on the table saw table, but i have a feeling that you may be referring to the jointer fence. It has a quadrant that reads in degrees of tilt and it also slides in and out over the cutter head of the jointer. The fence has a double nut and the inner nut clamps the fence to the quadrant and the outer nut holds the fence stationary to the guide rail. The miter gauge is easy to figure out but not so the jointer fence. The inner and outer nuts are engaged by moving the handle in and out. If you do not have the manuals refer to Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone on the Shopsmith website for more detailed info. I will await some pics.

If you are indeed referring to the 'handle' on the front of the jointer, it is possible you are missing a steel dowel pin that the screw presses against the bar to clamp the left/right position of the fence. The large nut secures the angle setting of the fence. The nut is tightened by pushing in on the 'handle'. The screw is turned by pulling out on the 'handle'.

There is no place for a Dowel pin.
