Wondered if anyone has mounted their Conical Sander on a separate drill press? Did it work out OK and hoe did you orient the table?

It could work. Keep in mind that drill chucks are not designed to handle side load so if you plan to do any sanding that puts side load on the sander, use some other kind of chuck to mount it.

The drill press I have has the oscillating spindle mode (Shopfox) so I would imagine it could take side leads to a certain extent. I saw a video of a fella who rigged up a right angle driI've to run his disc Sander.

Why in the world would you want two conical discs mounted at angles to one another.

LOL..no just one but running at a right angle rather than flat.

Sorry I'm lost as to the why. If you have a shopsmith and you have the conical disk then one could use it in drill press mode (not so sure how safe that would be).

I'm also wondering how you would mount it to a drill press. Yes you could mount the disk to a MT2 and then chuck it that way but that too sounds like someone looking to get hurt unless it has a draw bar to keep it chucked.

Perhaps if you explained what you hope to accomplish we could be of more help.

No longer have the SS. But kept the Conical sander and may have a use for it.
