I moved to a smaller shop in January. The shack out back (realtor listed it as a log cabin ) is 14'x20' and then there is another shop the same size further back. Still have to do repairs to the porch rim joist and a couple boards. It has heat from an outside wood boiler.
I made my 520 into a shorty. I had a shop built accessory shelf on it and wanted the primary use items still available.

My other shop is about 24x30 with a flat roof. In the fall with a hailstorm, wind, and acorns falling you didn't have to worry about the Shopsmith disturbing the neighbors.

Finished the accessory shelf yesterday. I really like the new positioning of the miter gauge on the blocks and the lower saw guard custom hole. The guard no longer flops around like it did. If anyone does this make sure the angle on the shelf matches the leg angle where they screw together.

Really nice job on the accessory table. I like how you make use of the space in under the bench tubes. Must have taken some detail thought to avoid interference with the table legs.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. The shop turned out better than I expected. I have the essentials in the shop with storage for lumber and least used jigs in an enclosed lean-to on the back.

I made several attempts in Sketchup to get everything right and then still had to change a couple items in template phase. The first position of the wrench was behind the lower saw guard but the black knob was in the way. Then I couldn't get the fence straddling push block from behind the upper guard so I moved it to left side, enlarged the holes where I had it and put in two feather boards. I bottomed out the table legs when I had the template on to make sure they cleared the upper fence guard.

Yesterday I attempted to do a horizontal bore with the Mark 7 and the old "Under-the-Mark V" cabinet would not allow the legs to go down far enough. I then switched to the shorty and more bad news. Dusty hinted that the legs might be a problem and I checked in saw mode and the table bottomed out on the headstock. I never thought about horizontal drill mode though. The upper saw guard has to be removed from the shelf to do a horizontal bore, my apology to all. At one time I had the "Under-the-Mark V" cabinet under my workbench. I guess it will be going back again.

It is the versatility of the Shopsmith that creates many of these issues. The perfect design can occur only after extensive use in ALL modes. I learned that lesson with my Adjustable Outfeed Table.
