I've never seen this before!

Was browsing in a Goodwill Store the other day and came across this gem:

It appears to be a relatively recent Craftsman RAS converted to drive a Performax 22/44 drum sander. Very little information on the internet. Have any of your ever seen or used anything like this? Is this a successful concept and design?

It was on sale for $280.00. I already have 2 RAS and 2 drums sanders, so I need this like a third leg.

However, on Saturday, everything in the store is half off. $140.00?

Hmmm...

Yes this was a thing back in I believe the late 80's or 90's. In fact I believe it may have been one of the first offerings of Performax to the American hobbiest.

The fact you have never seen one and that there is very little info on the internet answers the question was it successful. ;)

lol...ok repeat after me..."Better to have one and NOT need it..then to NEED one and not have it"...there, feel better about buying it now.

You gotta get over this "need it" deal when it comes to workshop tools, need has nothing to do with it, think your wife cares about how many black shoes she has...NO...know why, because need doesn't factor into her decision making. The wife gets to buy all the shoe and dresses they want and men get to buy all the tools and wood they want, the world remains balanced that way, unless they are females wood workers...hmmm best of both worlds I guess, don't know, haven't figured out that part yet...lol..

Nice, I've never heard of this before but will start looking for one. Where is it located?

It looks like it could be easily reconfigured to fit and be powered by a Shopsmith..

Any ideas and/or thoughts.....
