I don't know if (m)any of you follow the Wood Workers Guild of America, but they're doing a 6-week beginner challenge right now, and though I'm a week behind, it's right up my alley, skill-wise. Week 2, which is current, is a wine-bottle holder, and I haven't gotten to that one yet. Instead, I just finished the first batch of the week 1 project, which were kitchen tongs. I made mine from country maple and white oak, finished with mineral oil.

Thanks! These were not at all hard to work with, other than sanding. I used the bandsaw the resaw the strips, as that felt a lot safer without building a jig. I'm like two weeks behind now, but I'll hopefully be caught up by next weekend now that I'm not working!
