I Still Wish for a Forum Format Change

Oh it would be so nice if the forum was more subdivided, like 10/10E, Mark 500, Mark 5, Mark Vii, Mark 7, etc.
I believe that the forum would be much more useful and more frequently referred to if it was.

It would be but could it be? Think of the man-hours to sort and re-catagorize previous posts. You couldn't trust some computer algorithm to look for key words to do that.

Indeed it would be difficult, and invariably there is that one gem of information that came forth in a thread that was mentioned after someone actually hi-jacked the thread taking it down a rabbit hole for a moment.
It would be helpful perhaps to have a way to allow threads to have a key word association that could collect similar threads with that association and then refine the search within that.
The board itself is its own worst enemy as Shopshmith has to manually adjust their hit list from time to time to change the rankings on what gets presented.
Examples might be things like Sheaves, Quill, Quill Advance, Motor, Way/Bench Tubes, Carriage Lock, Table, Alignment, Restoration etc....
But who is going to do it? How objective might they be?
It is why I search outside of the Forum for items in the forum using an external search engine, targeting the site
www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum
I do believe that 10E/10ER Mark VII, Sawsmith, etc. which are machines the current Shopsmith never manufactured, would benefit by segmentation, if there is some way to achieve that.

Oh comeon!!! Many such sub divisions have been recommended over the years.
Once started - there is no end! Let's add pens, bottle stoppers, desks, saw blades, SS table extensions, bandsaws, jointers, planers, strip sanders, tenon joints, butt joints, bridle joints, box joints, dovetail joints, glue types, safety equipment, castor systems, hand clamps, "C" clamps, "F" clamps, corner clamps, garage heaters, garage lighting, Garage cooling, Garage cabinets, shop cabinets, etc, etc, etc...

Or how about by age of the poster? We all know how much young folks know after all but the the sage advice of octogenarian's might still win the day.
Me, I'm fine with it the way it is. When I need to find something I normal search the whole site and not search in threads by title.
Take a look at this pinned thread:
http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/commu ... -t917.html
Go to the end and you will see a bunch of lathe related Q&A which is clearly how we get side tracked and why a bunch of sections doesn't work here.
Anyway I'm as happy as a clam here the way it is.

And I still believe that the forum format could stand change. It probably will never happen but I don't have to give up trying; and won't.
But read what I said! subdivided, like 10/10E, Mark 500, Mark 5, Mark Vii, Mark 7, xxx.

I think you have that wrong.
"Remember that a narcicist can be taught nothing" because he already believes he knows everything about everything.
Oh I think the 'originator' has it wrong more than one way.
I give you credit for recognition of obvious similarity.
