I purchased my 510 used and it came with a 5/8" Molder/Dado Arbor. It actually had a set of 8" Craftsman Dado Blades. I purchased another Dado/Arbor (505506) but it is actually smaller than the one that came with the 510. It is not possible to install standard blades that will cut a 3/4" dado. I can install 5/8" safely! Wondering whether there is a different Molder/Dado Arbor that I did not see or does this arbor only support Shopsmiths 6" dado set.
Thanks!

It comes with a stack of washers, the washers you choice to use is what allows this to work with different thickness of dado sets. My guess is that either shopsmith has changed the arbor design or you have not removed the correct washers to get it to work.
Without the larger (thick) washer, using two of the other washers plus the keyed washer and have the nut fully threaded on you should have more then enough space for 3/4 width dado set. Without going out and playing with it I seem to recall getting near 15/16" capacity that way.

I took the "thick" washer off and was able to obtain the 3/4" that I need with some to spare! I do believe that Shopsmith has changed the design of this arbor as the one that came with the machine has washers that are larger in diameter and the length is approx. 1/2" longer. Thanks for your help!

There have been variations in the Dado/Molder Arbors over the years. Back in the 10ER days it was used for the moulder head, dado blade and regular saw blades. We recently had a discussion here on the differences. You can see it here.

While it is mainly about different arbors people got with 10ER's I believe there have been differences in MK V arbors.
