Very interesting! What issue is that from? It is obviously a SS planer although it is not mentioned. I would guess the submitter provided pictures with his tip and Wood characterized the planer correct but generic as to the brand. The submitter did mention varying the feed speed. The SS planer is the only one I know of that has variable feed speed.

John, the Dewalt 735 has two speeds. That's really not too "variable" though, is it?

Yes, I knew that but as you say it is not truly variable in the SS sense.

My DeWalt 735 has only two speeds, but will plane down to 1/8" of red oak with no need for stock support.

I have owned my Shopsmith Pro Planer for many years. It is a great planer. Never sorry I purchased it.
Made the purchase at the Shopsmith Cincinnati store. Don't remember exact year but must been around 1990
