SS Sawblades on 5/8 Arbor

I have been using my Shopsmith primarily as a table saw for a couple years and just upgraded to a SawStop PCS175. Like most non-Shopsmith tools, it has a 5/8" arbor. I have some very nice Forrest blades that the previous owner of my Shopsmith threw in when I bought it, and I'd really love to not have to buy new ones just because the hole is too big. Does anyone know where I could find an adaptor to let me use these blades on my new saw? A quick internet search only yields 1" to 5/8" adaptors.

I don't know if such adapters exist, but even if they exist I would doubt they would sit on a SawStop or, if it did fit, maintain the safety features of that SawStop.

Something like this:

55608 5/8" Saw Blade Arbor (for MARK 7 and MARK V Models 520,510 and 505) ... $31.99

Get it from Shopsmith. I don't know if it will fit on your new saw but it will work on a Shopsmith.

Yes, what I am asking about is an adaptor for saw blades that have a 1 1/4" hole for the Shopsmith arbor to be used on a standard 5/8" arbor like on my SawStop.

I've never seen such an adapter. They do have adapters but 1-1/4" is an odd size which is pretty much a shopsmith thing.

I'd want to evaluate the fit of these before spinning up the blade, but you could theoretically get what you want by combining two reducing bushing. First a 1-1/4 to 1", and then a 1" to 5/8". I've never used them myself, but I recalled seeing these.

A call to Forrest might yield a better solution.

I sent a query to Forrest. If they respond I'll post it in this thread.

Forrest said they could bush the blades from 1-1/4" to 5/8" but cautioned that it wasn't the ideal setup.

One would need side washers that firmly grip the blade outside of the 1 1/4" bore.

Obviously not ideal but if they are willing to do it I would give it a try. How much do they charge? In practice it may work just fine. You didn't say what blades you have but I would pick one and give it a try. Forrest blades are definitely worth preserving. Their quality is first rate.
