Oops! The special on the Nova G3 chuck also got ordered! I hadn't bought a sizable 'toy' from the Mother Ship since around 2011, so it's time. BTW, the 2010 PowerPro is still running great!

Yeap, that 'mistake' did arrive early in the week. I had a 4-jaw chuck several years ago that I'd sold. While I've been able to do almost everything I wanted with a faceplate and glue mounts, etc., I started thinking the Nova G3 would be nice to have. And it was on sale... my finger did slip over to that button.

First job was to counterbore a "tough as nails" salvaged piece of old Holm Oak (more like a Mediterranean or Australian variant of oak; the grain is visible but not open):

After a couple of creative re-chuckings (also using a 5/8" dowel as a 'jam chuck' inside that counterbore), I was able to turn and polish a new knob for a very old handplane:

Happy woodworking; may all your accidents be happy ones!

Nice work the knob looks like it came on the plane.
