Wooden Toy Car, Hot Rod 1932 Ford Sedan

The body is painted with Behr Oops paint from Home Depot with a top coat of Krylon Clear Satin. The exhaust pipes are /14 inc dowels painted with flat black acrylic craft paint and coated with clear shellac. The wheels are finished with amber shellac. The hubs are metallic green craft coated with clear shellac.

I really like making these. While they are restively simple there is a lot more work to them than it would appear.

I Know what you mean when you say "they are fun to make".

Yes, I mostly use a scroll saw for this. The windows can be tricky with the stock this thick.
As you can see fron some of the cars in th back ground I drill the window openings on some of them. However, some of my toys just don't look right with round windows. This is one of them.

Yes there are quite a few in progress. 35 Hot Rods of various designs and colors. Plus an assortment of smaller cars and trucks.

re the windows, I wonder if you could do them with a bandsaw the way bandsaw boxes are made, ie cut in from the outside along the grain and then glue and bend the kerf closed after the cutout is made.

I buy wheels if there are wheels available for the project at hand. If I make a Norm Marshall car I make the wheels because the store bought wheels just don't look right.
I've made hundreds maybe thousands of wheels. It takes to long to make them when you don't have to.
