So this is the upper saw guard I got on a recent purchase. Is it the wrong guard or am I just unable to hook it up. It's different than my 520 and 510 Guard. FYI it's for a 2008 model 505.

Just what is the problem that you encounter?

Do you have a riving knife and does it fit the 505?

Well it appears the slot in the upper guard is not wise enough to fit over the bolt in the lower guard and also it appears the riving knife portion would be too close to the blade. I was hoping it was some upgraded version of the saw guard but I am thinking he sold me the wrong upper guard.

I have no idea what that guard is for but it doesn't look like anything I have or have seen for a 510/520.

It's missing the lower plastic part but it does have the looks of the newer 500 upper guard, like it could be a shopsmith item but modified?

Anyway as a reference this is the newer upper guard from a 500:

It does look more like this then the 510/520 guard but still not right for the 500 either.

It shouldn't have an offset in the bracket like the one in the picture. Also the anti kick back arms are not SS. My guess is that it is for a small jobsite saw.
