Hey Gang.
I was wondering if anyone has tried to cut cultured marble with woodworking tools. Cultured marble is a composite material that appears like marble but is really an epoxy based material.
Anyone tried this?

Pretty sure the answer is ,,,,yes you can,,go slow,,,,using a power saw,,, however ,,,I believe you have to turn the blades around backwards.

It will create a lot of dust so breathing eq should be considered.

I would try either a diamond blade or a masonry blade just to save the carbide on my saw blades. I have used a diamond blade in 4 1/2 in. Rockwell circular saw to cut ceramic tile before so it should not be a problem cutting it. I was going to use a 7 1/4 in. diamond blade in my SS but the 4 1/2 in. diamond blade was cheaper. Depending on how much you need to cut off a belt sander or grinder could also work. Take your time as a slower cut reduces chipping and gives a smoother cut at least on the tile.

If you do this (I would not), it will create a horrendous amount of dust. Cutting large amounts of MDF does the same think. Same goes for cutting aluminum.

If you do this: When you are done, clean out the headstock (NO, clean everywhere). Pay particular attention to the headstock lock and the porkchop.

I installed a lot of this stuff myself. I used the abrasive type blades in my circular saw and I got nice clean cuts.
It does create a lot of dust but it is manageable.

I have cut quite a bit of stone countertops over the years. Use a worm drive Skil Saw and a diamond blade. Do it outside and flood the stone with water from the hose as you go and it will cut quite easily. I have a saw that has been used for years to cut stone and the water hasn't seemed to hurt it. Obviously make sure the saw has a good ground.
