Strip Sander with Chisel Sharpening Attachment

During the Fathers Day Sale, I started feeling a bit bad so I decided to treat myself to a reward and purchased the Strip Sander along with the additional Chisel Sharpening Attachment. First of all, I am definitely sharpening impared. I like the regular SS sharpening attachment that is used on the work and auxillary tables but for very short stubby tools, it has some limitations.
SS shipped these articles to me in a record time of 2.5 days. It was as if they were on the truck waiting for my order. They arrived well packaged. I took the plattens included with the sander and chisel attachment and buffed them pefrectly smooth with a power buffer then waxed them with Johnson's and they are like glass now. Nick suggested on Sawdust Sessions that you disasemble the upper wheel assembly, clean and wax the surfaces and he was right. The upper wheel assembly includes the automatic tensioner as well as the tracking mechanism. It now works very fluid like. I am well pleased with the quality of which it was designed for. It is a very simple machine and very easy to maintain with a minimum of adjustment that are required. With the exception of the above suggestions, it's as close to plug and play as you can get. The crowning glory is the chisel sharpening attachment. It works just as Nick demonstrated and for someone that is sharpening impared as I am, this thing is fool proof. It can replace the sanding work table in two minutes and is easy to leave attached to the head stock for thoes working on a separate lathe as I do for instant tool touch ups. Chisels and lathe tools taken all way to the 600 grit belt will shave the hair from your arms without even touching yourself. Very delicate touches with your tools produce huge results.
The one additional accessory for thoes who are a perfectionist especially with bench tools or knife sharpening would definitely be a leather stroping belt which I plan to purchase from an outside source. SS does not seem to market one.
This is a lot of tool for the money guys and gals especially if you can catch it on sale.
