I got the error message "RPS0", and the factory sent me a new part for the Speed Reader. However, i followed the replacement instructions in the manual, removed the belt cover and motor pan, and was dismayed to find that the replacement part is not accessible without tearing more stuff apart.

How do you get access to the inner workings of the Power Pro to replace the motor speed reader cable?

Did you try blowing out the headstock with compressed air? It may be caused by dirt or dust in the sensor area.

My thought is the speed reader is located on the front of the motor. (the side opposite from the pulley.

Can you take a picture of the part sent from Shopsmith? We could probably make a better guess on where it would fit.

OMG, did not the instructions include the necessary steps so as to preclude you asking that question?

BTW humans read, sensors detect speed. ;)

I realize it is Saturday, but a call to CS with this question is in order(even if you get it figured out in the meantime  ).

Cage rattling is appropriate! :D
