MKV 500 main table flatness

Hi
I'm new to the forum. I have a MkV 510, but also just purchased a MkV 500 out of an old barn as restoration project. It came out well and was fun to understand how to do a total rebuild on a MkV. The table however is not flat, out by .062 front to rear. Can anyone give me expected tolerance for the main table. Also the insert is cambered. I will get a new table but would like to know what I can expect for tolerance front to rear and side to side. Does not look like there is enough there to mill flat.

Not sure there is much you can do other than shim the trunion mounting bolts.
1/16" seems a bunch!
What do you mean by cambered?
The inserts should be slightly concave(viewed from the top). That allows slight adjustment by relative 'tightness' of the mounting screws.

thank you for the response. The insert has an arch viewed from the top. I will try some shims, but 1/16 is a lot for shims. I was thinking of just buying another table and hoping for the best, just do not want to end up with a few 500 sixe tables.

An arch is concave from one view and convex when viewed from the opposite viewpoint. From the side view it is 'curved'. I assume your arch viewed from the top is concave.

Sorry, I'm not doing a good job of explaining. Viewed from the top, the insert is arched high in the center and the ends are low. I think this is just the opposite of what it should be. Seems logical that the ends would be a little high and the center low.

Maybe I don't read well but is it the table or the insert that presents this issue.

Actually both. This machine was never given much maintenance during service life, used as a storage table after the start capacitor failed in a dirt floor barn. Table has a rise of .062 near the middle from either front to rear. Insert has an arc or is convex when viewed from the top as well. At this point I think it best to find a table/insert that are in good condition.

Thank you, I completely tore down the machine 100%, paint stripped to bare metal. All bearings replaced, belts, switch, motor overhauled. When I repainted it I decided on gloss Emerald Green, way too much smoke grey in the shop now. Saws, drills, jointers, and sanders. Actually I like the different color, plus the other Shopsmith grey accessories look good with the green color. The 500 is a very good machine, the smaller table works fine for many applications.
