Strip Sander w/ Chisel Sharpener and Mark VII Reverse?

Post by GSchiela »

Hello,
I finally found a used strip sander and power station on Craigslist.
They have the chisel sharpener on sale, and it says you must use it on the quill end of machine.
If I use this with my Mark VII I am assuming that I can just run the quill in reverse for the same effect, This way I do not have to shift the machine around between functions, but as I have never done this I just want to check.

Thank you,
Gerry

I believe you are correct, having it mounted on the quill side of a non-reverable Shopsmith orients it so the sanding belt runs up, running in reverse on the left side would have the same effect.
