I have now (after much procrastination) begun using Windows 10. The jury is still out.

But I would like to know what revision level is recommended. I bought a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 already installed. Is it the latest revision?

Is everyone who uses Sketchup with Windows 10 satisfied with Sketchup performance???

Dusty, Windows 10, at least Home, will automatically upgrade itself. If you don't have the latest version now, you will soon.

Well no surprise to here from me with a strong backing for windows 10. While sketch now requires a 64 bit machine it runs very well on windows 10.

I have no personal experience with the surface pro 3. I'm not sure what processor yours has but I tend to thing the M class might be a little weak for sketchup.

At this point in time there have been two releases of windows 10 with the third on the way this fall. There have been security patches along the way so it would not hurt to check what you have and make sure it is up to date.

If you need help doing that let us know.

reible and Roy; Thank you both for the responses. I no longer have an issue. I left the tablet on with the charger plugged in during my trip to the doctor today. When I got home I discovered the tablet doing an update. It took most of the morning to finish but it is done. I don't recognize there being anything different but there must be. The security updates were many.

My only frustration with Sketchup comes when I attempt to create drawings with the stylus (no mouse). An example of my dilemma: When I draw a line and want to set the length by typing in a number I have no way to effect a "right click". If I utilize a wireless mouse, everything works well.

You may see updates coming in over a few days. Recommend you leave it on and plugged in if possible.

Just do not expect to do useful work while it is 'installing'. I recall a recent all day event.

Using the tablet while the update is installing very likely slows the process but the tablet remains fully functional. I see no reason while useful work could not be accomplished. Maybe it depends on what the meaning of "useful work" is.

Right now I am using Sketchup primarily to document work done on the RV that my daughter and I are renovating.

I was referring to the slice of time where " . . . do not turn off your computer" is displayed(no desktop displayed).

No opportunity to 'work'.

I share your frustrations with Sketch-up. That is the reason I seldom use the touch screen capabilities on my laptop. By the way this is not just limited to Sketch-up. I have found that most drawing programs I use have this same problem - Aspire, DeltaCad, etc. Just means you have to use the mouse and keyboard or at least have it available for some operations. The good news is at least with Surface Pro you have the capability to do this.

I failed to do due diligence. I might not have purchased the Surface Pro 3 had I done so. I have the tablet because I now spend so much time in waiting rooms. I wanted to be able to work Sketchup during those times. I do carry a very small wireless mouse with me and that helps. Research tells me that I share this frustration with many Sketchup users. Kimble says be patient; we are working on it.

I am the cause of much of my frustration. Example: I had my desktop customized just like I wanted it. It worked for me for a couple days. Yesterday when I brought it up, all my desktop seemed to be gone. After some cursing (under by breathe of coarse), I learned that if I click on the Windows key, my customized desktop returns. When I shut down and then come back up or when I restart, I loose the desktop again.

I know it is not broken. I just did something and have not learned where the "secret key" is to lock my desktop when I get it configured the way I want.
