Mortising and seeing a highly unusual liquid

As I was finishing up doing several mortises, I noticed a dark brown liquid seeping down and on to my wood. I inspected the headstock and all of the gaskets were tight and did not seem to come from the motor. Trailing the liquid upward, it seemed to flow at some point below the chuck. Probably about a teaspoon full and then it quit. I've never experienced such an unusual and unexplainable occurrence and was wondering if anyone else has or someone could shed some light as to what happened.
Thanks ‼️

Thanks, but it came from some point below the chuck.
