I have my logo off the 10ER and while it is not in bad shape is seems a bit dull. Has anyone ever tired to hand polish it with some thing to give it more luster? My fear is that the finish will either come off or look worse after.... Maybe just a coat of wax is safest?

I have done 3 of them now. My best result believe it or not, was to clean it as much as possible and then paint it with a clear Acrylic enamel paint. When you get done, as long as the red is even over the whole plate, it looks like new. It may not be the original red, but who knows what that was anyway LOL.

Try it ... you can always strip it off again.

Here is a picture showing the condition. BTW I don't want to expend a lot of effort and want it to be reasonably original.

Your paint looks pretty darn good, but I'd want to polish up the metal a bit. Maybe using a flat block of something, to stay above the paint.

FWIW, the guy in the video below tested a few polishing products, but I doubt that I'd have the patience for the Q-tip technique.

Rubbing compound(car polish)?

Remove paint oxide/polish aluminum.

I use "Mother's" mag wheel polish. I've done several and they have turned out very nice.

Thanks for your input. After thinking on it....

I think I'll give some 20/20 Plastic-polish a try. I've used it on some plastic items and it is pretty gentle and if it works fine other wise I'll see what other stuff if in my "car collection" of products. I just don't want to damage it....
