Looking at a mark 5

Hi all new here I bought a mark 5 already and it has model code of 555510 and a serial number 113089 it's missing a few part and I'm looking at a parts machine still runs good it has a confusing number because it seems to be an older machine but newer head stock red switch it has a model number 515903 date code 073301 but the part up top says headstock svc that means serviced by shopsmith?

Your first machine is from 1982. Serial numbers are not consecutive by year of manufacture.

The other machine date code makes no sense. Date codes started in 1988 and are formatted as Month-Day-Year. The number you listed is not correct. It would be July 2001 but obviously there are not 33 days in July.
The "C" head stock has the red safety switch and was introduced in 1991.

My fat fingers 072301 is the real code so July 23 2001 and it says head stock svc

It appears you have a Mark V 500 of unknown age but with a SS serviced headstock. Yes they did still make '500's with the "C" headstock. Curious if it has a dual bearing quill.
