Got the word from the better half I can pick up a chuck .

Does any one know if they can be set up for turning eccentrics ?

I found a chuck that appears to have the eccentric ability ,,

I am not familiar with the Mophorn chuck But I am concerned about whether you could find an adapter for the M33X3.5 threads to the 5/8 shaft on the SS.
Or you can contact Ruth Niles @ nilesbottlestoppers.com. She has an off center turning jig but all it does is re index the piece to a different center and turn a off center circle not a true ellipse.
About a year ago "American Woodturner " magazine had an article for making an elliptical but I can't find that copy right now.
The Nova is a very good chuck but my personal preference is the Oneway Talon chuck.

I see no indications that this chuck would be any better at setting up for eccentrics then any other 4 jaw chuck.

I'd also worry about the quality. You might get a good one or you might not. One piece of advice I got when I was looking at chucks was to get one from a name brand company, ie not one from just anybody. Nova is one of the good ones.

It is also no clear what other jaws it can take. Nova has a large selection and for the most part they fit any chuck in their lineup. If you get into turning you will end up with at least 6 sets of jaws so this is important.

Like was getting an adapter to fit a shopsmith with the angled set screw. Nova makes them.

If you end up with a lathe that has reverse you will want to make sure it has a grub screw. Nova does.

If you really get into turning and find the shopsmith to be lacking and want another lathe will this one fit or have an adapter? Nova will.

On Nova chucks the jaws are numbered, 1 to 4 and match the sections on the chuck. Some chucks do not do this and that can be an issue.

Now I have the G3 but I also have the super nova2 which I like better. They have one left here:

In the end the decision will be yours but I would not go with the one you listed, too many unknowns.

I have the G3 and am very happy with it. I am not sure about the eccentric turning capability as I have never tried that.

I seen where SS has the nova listed with the pin jaws and the bushing.
I haven't been able to find much on using it for eccentric turning,

I will be looking for one at the swap meet this year .

Eccentric turning is off center turning. The shopsmith has that ability. The tail stock is adjustable for off center turning.
