Yet another SS

A 510 has been on CL here for a while and it was about 10 min from my house so I called the guy up. It is a 510 with band saw, tenon master, mortiser and biscuit attachments along with a whole slew of arbors etc. It has never been used. Turned on a few times but it has never actually been used. Everything is like new out of box and barely bolted together. He bought it new and said it scared him so he kept it stored in the garage all these years. He has been trying to sell it for a while with no luck. I offered him $400 and he took the deal. Bizarre. His wife wanted it out of the garage this weekend. Didn't need it but couldn't pass it up. I moved out a rolling cabinet to make room but this is it. Can't fit anymore machinery in my shop. The rolling cabinet was being used as an SPT stand so I will now leave the two belt sanders permanently on it

There's gotta be a way to make a practical double-decker Shopsmith! ;)

If you figure it out, please let me know ...

What fun would that be? 10e's & er's are a lot cheaper to restore than old Mustangs.

Question. When the 510's were delivered new were the lower tubes already attached to the castings ? I had to go through this thing from top to bottom as usual but nothing on this one was more than finger tight and obviously never set up. But on all my other machines at least the tubes were tight. Upper way tubes same thing. The Allen heads were not even snug. It's a wonder it made it home in the truck.

AIUI, the tubes are secured at the factory.

Now about those way tube set screws - a not uncommon 'problem'. They were the cause of YUBA's departure due to a law suit.

I find it really shocking that it still occurs.
