Hurricane Irma

Post by dusty »

I do hope and pray that all of our members in Florida are well prepared for what they are about to experience.

My first thoughts were for Ann (Bill Mayo's wife) and Ed in Tampa. For all in the area - my prayer shall be for you and yours to survive this vicious storm.

This one is going to be big ,,, there is another one forming right behind it.

I hope that everybody who lives in Florida has already gone north for a vacation until this thing passes.

Right now it is a beautiful day. I am about 21-25 miles inland expect some rain. Winds speeds at surface 80-90. Danger is tornados that spin off. The thing is no one knows where the storm is going. They expect a turn north but so far it hasn't turned. Also it is over Cuba and is weakening! The strong high may even tear it apart.

Right now just trusting in God!

Please keep us all in prayer.

Nice day so far. Just getting the rest of the patio furniture off the patio and under roof. I am 60 or so miles from either coast right in the middle of the peninsula. The estate executrix for my neighbor's estate came up from Naples to spend the week. We will most likely lose electric so I am keeping batteries charged for as long as I can.

If it doesn't turn you folks will be good .

then again,,,If it doesn't turn ,there is going to be a bad mess in other gulf states do to no evacuations .

The difference between a cat 4 and a cat 5,,, is 5 mph winds, gust over 180 mph are expected.

Good luck

We were in Corpus, a few years ago, when the hurricane came in there. Landfall was not right in Corpus but too close for comfort. The residence on Bird Island really suffered the greatest lose and most of that was from the surge. We were living in our Airstream but made the decision to leaver it parked and "get out of there". We found lodging in San Antonio but had to stay there three days longer than expected.

Earlier in life, we endured a hurricane in Biloxi, MS. We sat that one out and survived without incurring much damage but people all around us, especially those that were coastal, took a beating.

What it all taught me was that you can not predict. I am a slow learner but I think I have it now.
